- "Can you not stare at me, please...? Say something! Can you not speak?"
- ―Longneck
Description[]
The Longneck is a distorted Malkuth scientist who worked alongside Doctor Angelicus. Both of them were a part of the creation of the Littles' cultivation and regret it deeply. He feels such regret for this event that his neck grew to avert his eyes from the wrong that he committed.
Appearance[]
Longneck is a man with yellowish skin and short, green hair. His neck is incredibly tall, with jutting processes that resemble a spine. The skin on his arms is red and stringy, appearing mangled or at least freshly wounded.
He wears a white shirt with red accents that resemble the uniforms of the Malkuth members, along with grey, oversized shorts that end above the knee. Interestingly, the hallmark Malkuth cross is not present on his design whatsoever, unlike the other members of the Order - possibly implying that he has since abdicated from the Order.
Personality[]
The Longneck, before the Blaze, seemed to be a simple scientist who was happy with his place in life, helping to prevent the distortion of the world and working in such a serious Order. He was an over-worrying office drone with a weak sense of morality and strength.
After the Blaze, he is anxious and seems paranoid of his surroundings. He retains a small amount of his pride, referring to given items as "hand-outs" and scolding the player if they get violent around him - but otherwise, he is wracked with so much guilt over creating the Littles with Doctor Angelicus that he's driven to a degree of extreme suicidal ideation.
Game Traits[]
Longneck can be found in the Outer World, standing near the Horned Girl and the Bagged One. He doesn't seem to serve much purpose to the player aside from his role in the story, though if given a Heart Seed when he requests it, he will gift the player a chunk of Kenryu flesh.
Crystal Readings:
- ...What is this? All I hear is a monotonous repetition of words. I have nothing else to say other than that it is a superb Baroque.
- The only things I can hear are... a strong remorse and a fixation on life. A repetition of the two.
- It seems he was conducting some sort of research, but reading the details will be no small feat. The distortion is hindering my ability to discern it...
- It must have been tough carrying this Baroque, even after the distortion... It's quite impressive... in many different aspects.
- His neck grew as if to avert his eyes from his own sin... And his body grew corpulent as he desired death. Quite a troublesome person, indeed.
- What is... the red... queen? I cannot see... the distortion is too great.
- You've taken this distortion, yet you remain unchanged. In other words, perhaps it means that you are already carrying a Baroque that is far heavier than this...
- Baroque... It is a sickness unto death, but it can also be an answer... Do you not understand? I suppose not. I don't truly understand it myself.
Trivia[]
- He fears the Archangel.
- He hates the Coffin Man for his lack of repentance, and the Coffin Man hates Longneck for being caught up about the past. The latter will badmouth him any time Longneck is brought up, even being disappointed that he cannot do so after Longneck's death.
- He, for some reason, has a fetish for heart seeds. Possibly because he notes things get sucked up inside him, creating an unsatisfying feeling of hunger.
- Longneck's suicidal urges are so powerful that giving his Idea Sephirah to other characters tends to also make them suicidal; the potency of his Baroque is something even the Baroquemonger will immediately comment on.
